"This too was myself - It seemed natural and human. In my eyes it bore a livelier image of the spirit, it seemed more express and single, than the imperfect and divided countenance I had been hitherto accustomed to call mine" Originally this piece was from a much larger commission I was writing to an angry 18th century gothic aesthetic... but alas as some projects sadly go, it was cancelled. But I'm not one for wasting good music - and I had to finish it! Inspired by the story of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and their battling duality I scrapped away a few elements from the original piece to create something I felt was lying underneath the surface. Their eldest, gather them all, her children, and sculpts them a story in fire and ember - a story of their past and the hubris that nearly consumed them all " A story told across three sections... 1) The Gathering - 2) The Time Before - 3) Hamartia I've had the great opportunity to have this piece selected to be played by the London Contemporary Chamber Orchestra after attending a workshop in the late Winter of 2021. The performance (alongside other talent composers) is scheduled so far for June of 2022.
